The service started in the USA and Canada but has now gone live in the UK, France, Ireland and Germany.
Apple’s new Emergency SOS system for iPhone has launched in the UK, giving users a quick and easy way to call for help in an emergency situation even when they have no mobile coverage.
The system, which is available on the latest iPhone 14 models, allows users to quickly and easily call emergency services by pressing the power button five times in quick succession or holding down the power and volume buttons.
The service is powered by the iPhone 14 series’ new built-in satellite connection that can send and receive messages without using a mobile phone network.
Once the feature has been activated, the iPhone contact’s Apple’s own emergency support team who will gather more information from you via text message and will contact the local emergency services to alert them that the user is in need of assistance. The user’s location will also be sent to the emergency services, allowing them to quickly locate the person requiring help.
The Emergency SOS feature is designed to be easy to use when people need help and can be activated even when the phone is locked. This means that users can quickly call for help even if they are unable to unlock their phone or speak.
Apple’s Emergency SOS system is just one example of the company’s commitment to user safety, health and security. The company has also implemented other features, such as Touch ID and Face ID, to help users protect their personal information and keep their devices secure.
The launch of the system in the UK is a welcome addition for iPhone users, offering a quick and easy way to call for help in an emergency situation.
